Introduction
Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Soca Fashion Show! This application packet is designed to guide you through the process of applying as a designer. We are looking for creative talent that embodies the vibrant energy, Caribbean spirit, and innovative flair of Soca culture. Please read the guidelines carefully and submit all required materials by the specified deadlines.


About the Soca Fashion Show
The Soca Fashion Show is an annual celebration of Caribbean culture, music, and style. It is a platform that unites emerging and established designers to showcase collections that highlight bold colors, tropical influences, and modern design trends. The event draws an international audience, industry professionals, media, and enthusiasts who appreciate a fusion of tradition and contemporary creativity.


Our Mission:
To spotlight diverse design perspectives that celebrate Caribbean heritage and the dynamic energy of Soca, while providing a stage for innovative talent to gain exposure, network with industry professionals, and build lasting connections.


Eligibility Criteria
To apply, designers must meet the following requirements:
• Professional or Emerging Talent:
Applicants can be established designers or emerging talent with a diverse portfolio that reflects a unique, culturally inspired vision.
• Commitment to Originality:
All submissions must represent original work. Collaborations should clearly outline each contributor’s role.
• Geographical Considerations:
While we welcome international submissions, designers must be able to participate in all mandatory rehearsals and dress rehearsals if selected. 


Application Requirements
Applicants must prepare and submit the following items as part of their application:
1. Designer Profile/Bio:
◦ A brief biography (250–500 words) detailing your background, design philosophy, and inspiration.
◦ Contact information and links to your professional website or social media pages.
2. Portfolio:
◦ A digital portfolio showcasing 4–6 of your best design works. This can also be sketches if you do not have tangible designs. (instructions listed in the application)
3. Collection Proposal for the Soca Fashion Show:
◦ A detailed description of the collection you plan to present.
◦ Outline the theme, color palette, fabric choices, and any unique elements that reflect Soca’s energetic vibe.
◦ A digital portfolio showcasing 4–6 of your best design works. This can also be sketches if you do not have tangible designs. 
◦ Include sketches or mood boards if available (optional but encouraged).


Timeline & Key Dates
• Application Submission Deadline: April 30, 2025 @ 12:00PM
• Notification of Selection: May 3, 2025
• Final Collection Submission Deadline: May 17, 2025
• Rehearsals and Fittings: TBA
• Event Date: November 15, 2025 
(located at the Gateway Tulsa Event Center)


Selection Process & Judging Criteria
Selection Committee:
A panel of industry experts established designers, and event organizers will review all applications.
Judging Criteria:
• Creativity & Originality:
How unique and innovative is the design concept?
• Relevance to Theme:
How well does the collection reflect the Soca spirit and Caribbean influences?
• Technical Execution:
Quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail in previous work.
• Presentation:
Clarity and professionalism of the submitted portfolio and collection proposal.
Selected designers will be notified via email and provided with further instructions regarding fittings, rehearsals, and event logistics.

Designer Registration Fee – $200 Explanation
(If you are a student your application fee will be waived, you must be enrolled in one of our partnered schools.)
To participate in the Soca Fashion Show, each selected designer is required to pay a $200 registration fee. This fee helps cover essential costs related to the production of the event and ensures that all designers receive key benefits to enhance their experience. Below is a breakdown of what the fee includes:

Runway Participation & Production Costs
Professional models to showcase your designs Venue rental and setup, High-quality music and visual experience for runway presentations
Marketing & Promotions
Feature in official Soca Fashion Show promotions (social media, website, press releases) Designer profile on the official event website Inclusion in printed or digital event programs
Networking & Industry Exposure
Opportunity to connect with buyers, stylists, media representatives, and fashion influencers Access to exclusive designer networking events 
Payment Details Amount: $200
Payment Due Date: Due at the time of admission
Refund Policy: The registration fee is non-refundable. If a designer withdraws after payment, the fee cannot be transferred or refunded.
